Fort aan de Klop
Have fun at a stunning historical location
On the edge of the city, less than fifteen minutes by bike from the Dom, you will find Fort aan de Klop. Fort aan de Klop was built around 1850 as part of the Dutch Waterline. Nowadays, it is a great place to relax and leave the world behind, while enjoying a drink and a bite to eat. It is also an inspiring venue for parties, business events and weddings – in the midst of green nature and yet close to the city.
Brasserie Het Wachthuis (‘The Guardhouse’), with its large, sunny terrace, is situated right in the middle of the five-acre grounds of the fort. This is a special place for a weekday lunch, Sunday brunch or dinner on a sultry summer evening. Children can play in the field or with our pet goats. In short, it is a unique place in Utrecht, where you can leave the everyday hustle and bustle behind in no time.
From April to September, Fort aan de Klop transforms into a cosy city campsite that makes you feel like you are camping in the wild. There is space for 25 tents on the ramparts. It is an ideal place for hikers and cyclists, for a weekend getaway or for a group camping expedition with family or friends.
